Corrections, expertise and questions about the research are all welcome. There is no general contact form: write to the address below. To offer cultural review, use its own page.
What is useful to send
- A correction
- A claim on a record that is wrong, or right for the wrong reason. The most useful version names the record and what the evidence actually says. Corrections are how the corpus improves, and accepted ones will eventually carry more weight than anything else a contributor can do.
- Expertise
- If you have standing in a visual tradition the corpus covers — particularly one flagged for cultural review — expert validation is the thing this project most needs and least has. The open cultural reviews have their own offer form.
- A source
- Primary material, archives and scholarship, especially for claims that have no source attached yet. What is already cited.
- A visual language we are missing
- Worth saying which, and why it is distinct from what the corpus already holds.
A few practical things
- This is an alpha. The corpus is uneven on purpose, and each page shows how much research stands behind it. How much we know.
- No accounts, no cookies. Page views are counted anonymously. Verdicts, comments, images, offers to review and product-update signups that you choose to send are stored, and a few preferences stay in your browser. Privacy.
- Licensing for the source material is recorded per source. Licensing and attribution.
